Mr. Flanagan, Child Pornography DOES Harm Another Person

I have been meaning to blog about this for a while but I haven't yet for 2 reasons:  #1 - I've been insanely busy, and #2 - I wanted to take enough time to cool down before blogging my thoughts (though they will probably still sound pretty livid).  Check out the link below for more details about Tom Flanagan's comments regarding child pornography.

"Flanagan told the crowd in Lethbridge he has 'grave doubts about putting people in jail because of their taste in pictures' and 'for doing something in which they do not harm another person.'" (quoted from the linked Winnipeg Free Press article below)

As an educated person living in Canada, I do not understand such ignorant comments.  IS YOUR HEAD UP YOUR ASS?  (Yes, I just said 'ass' - this is serious!).  Do you not know anything about human trafficking?  I don't even have to go into great specifics but can say things like we have an estimated 27 million people (mostly women and children) who are being trafficked on our planet currently - more slaves than at any other point in history.  Many of them are laborers but many are trafficked for sexual purposes including pornography.  Don't say that pornography is victimless - that could not be further from the truth!  It is the DEMAND by men that creates the needed supply of sexual victims and they are moved against their will in order to 'satisfy' the hideous lust and perversion of people that should be put into jail BECAUSE of their taste in pictures -  plain and simple.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion Mr. Flanagan, but you should know that you are entirely wrong when you say that there is no harm done in child pornography.  If you truly believe that maybe you should connect with MP Joy Smith as she knows many trafficking victims that you could speak with personally or perhaps rent "The Whistleblower" this weekend and see what you think about human trafficking then.
